Default ASRock P4VM890

Does anyone have anything to say about this motherboard? My brother's going to be ordering this motherboard. If you must know, we're reusing his CPU from laptop and using my 6800NU so he'll have a decent gaming system. It's all going to run about $300 without shipping (I need to buy a decent HSF, so I allocated like $40 but I need help on that).

Right so, does anyone have anything to point out about this mobo? I know features will be lacking, but we're not planning on overclocking. I'm buying a single stick of DDR until he snags up $80 more to grab another stick (since this board has only two slots).

Linkage:
Newegg.com - ASRock P4VM890 Socket 478 VIA P4M890 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail

CPU is a Pentium 4 3.06GHz 533MHz FSB w/ HT.

Also, any HSF recommendations?

Selling some for people with socket 478 boards that died. So far so good, nice little boards, very cheap. I also sell alot of P4i65G for people with AGP cards, work pretty good.

Anything else to say about quality and BIOS?

I know it's going to be decent because it's made by Asus, right? At least that's what I was told... If not, I'm still telling my brother that.

That's good to know though.

So, HSF recommendations anyone? Or anything else to say about the boardy!

EDIT:
Yes, no, maybe? Zalman 7700.

I've never used that particular board before, but own two other ASRocks and they are good boards. Not good for oc'ing, but very stable at stock.

Okay, after doing some serious digging, I found a Thermalright SP94 with a 92mm Panaflo fan......here's the bad news. you'll either need to call Thermalright and get a pair of 92mm fan retention clips or make your own. I'll put it in the mail with your Forum Member Of The Month prize

I see that it says P4 Prescott on the spec sheet. Will that board work with a P4 Northwood? I would imagine that 3.06 is a Northwood.

Yeah, it's a Northwood, but that just means the board would support a Prescott, not just the Prescott. Come on, that's kind of elementary Gordon.

Rich, which one looks right (the backplate)?

B:

EDIT:
It's supposed to look like this, but I think backplate A is just universal and I think it'll work.
