| Hey again all, had a few questions on the temps of my mb and cpu. CPU runing @38c and MB at 44c, just wondering if this is normal or if there are good ways to bring the temps down without liquid as this is my first built pc. MB... A8N32-SLI Deluxe. CPU.. Dual Core AMD Opteron 180 2.4GHz Ram.. A-DATA Vitesta 2GB (2 x 1GB) 4gb total PSU..550W ATX2.01 (Rosewill) Graphics.. Evga 7600gt HDD.. WD caviar se Optical drives.. 2x LITE-ON Black 20X DVD+R... | We take both criticism and positive comments very positively | What type of cooling do you have? If its the stock AMD cooler those temps are fine, for most every other air cooler they are adequate. You could check your case's air flow, check to see what the cooling monitor application is set to in the BIOS (the ASUS boards allow you to configure for Optimal, Performance, or Quiet operation). Joker has a very similar setup, we'll have him help you out. | "the board does include a small fan, but they only recommend using it for water cooling setups/ I tried it both ways and found it made no difference at all. Thinking of it another way, a passive cooling solution that is decent is still better than an active cooling soltuion...thats one less part that can fail" (Taken from another are original post by Capper) This was from another post I found of yours can you also tell me if that fan thing is worth using or no, I never used it because I wasnt sure on it. | socket 939 junkie | you can always try removiving the heatsink from the motherboard, removing the crappy TIM they use and apply a fresh coat of Arctic Silver 5. |

| We take both criticism and positive comments very positively | Be very careful doing that though, you can crack the chipset, or create a gap between the chipset and heat sink (if you don't apply enough thermal paste)....its a very good suggestion, just take your time and make sure you do it right INTEL QX9650 // Gigabyte EP45 Extreme // 8GB PC2-8500 // BFG GTX260 MaxCore // DD Torture Rack // Seagate 750GB HDD // OCZ Vendetta // PC Power & Cooling 620W PSU |

| I dont think im that high tech yet, wouldnt even know what exactly to remove lol. Any other thoughts? lol Im an idiot I do actually know what your talking about. Im just not sure how much thermal paste to use as the tube of it i got didnt come with anything. On a side note the heatsink is actually one of the nicer looking stock ones I have saw but looks arent everything I guess, it does have copper sinks and tubes on it maybe i should just order a biger cooler for it? | I'm Diggin it! | Here's the thing. With your CPU cooler being the stock one and that mobo having the nVidia Nforce4 SLI Chipset, your temps are completely normal. If the chipset gets over 65C or the CPU is over 60C loaded, then I would worry about improving your cooling situation. However, it sounds like you've got the airflow, well, flowing. I wouldn't worry about your temps as they stand now.
