AAHHHHH, good call there
Hopefully Intel has finally learned from their mistakes of having to come out with a new chipset with every new processor! However, I still don't trust them and will go with a 965 board if/when I finally migrate to the dark side with Conroe.

Yup 965 and 985. 965 and 985 support it but not 975, makes no logical sense.
I remember when people were saying 'Presler\Cedar Mill won't run on 955x, will need 975', in fact Presler\Cedarmill are supported on 955 AND 925x(almost 2 years old) chipsets.

I have yet to see any technical documents regarding this. Up to this point everything is heresay.

Either way, we don't have any proof.

On the otherhand the WD2-E supports EVERY 775 CPU on the market as of yesterday. Yet release notes say 'support for new CPU'. I'd be willing to bet the money in my pocket(which isn't much, lol) that Conroe will be supported on 975. Again I don't have any hard proof, it's just my opinion.

Yeah, I've heard both ways actually. Some think Conroe will be supported by 975 boards with a BIOS update while others seem sure that it will only work on a 965 or newer board.

Like Ranger said, everything until release day is just heresay. Guess we'll just have to play the waiting game and cross our fingers :?

And if CONROE is not supported on the WD2-E, I'll just throw the damn board in the street and give it a few passes under the wheel of the pickup truck. Then shellout another $250.00 for the latest Intel board. lol :!:
