Probably fine for internet, word processing, etc. provided you have an old graphics card to put in it. If you need to buy a card and intend to use board for such non-demanding applications, then one is better to spend a bit more for a mobo with onboard graphics.

and with many of these boards of that age, the spec say it only supports Pentium4 and Celeron D processors, not even the higher power Pentium D or anything newer like the C2D procs.

Thanks HL and Corsair!

Assuming one has a specific application for it in mind then yes, it can be a good deal. Like Carl mentions:

So find a processor and cheap graphics card and you can have a nice little Linux box relatively cheap. Toss in Open Office and away you go.

Question becomes if you have the other needed hardware to make it into something useful?

For those of you looking for a bargain like this, ECS has a exclusive relationship with AMD for some of their older s754 CPUs, which they solder into an ECS board and package on Newegg for $50.....not a bad little set up for the Grandparents.

I wonder if you can get a bios update to support the newer E series Intels... or at least the E1200-E2x00 procs... that would be a decent budget setup for anyone that only uses it for a basic box....

Thanks HL and Corsair!

no, its a chipset support issue, not a board issue.

Yep. I've sold tons of those Semprons boards. They're very cheap and do the job for surf-only computers. :)
With 1GB, Windows XP and a 8400 they make awesome computers for kids gaming and older games.

If there is a final hour, let's hope for a higher power. One by one, and two by two, I have ammo, what about you?

this goes in one of those $50 PC's for your kids or people who don't know what a CPU is.
