Default What ram should I get?

im looking into getting new ram. Ive heard good things about the Ballistix Tracer and OCZ Reaper. I need DDR2-800mhz. I may try overclocking on it as well. Would these work or should i go with something else? Im open to suggestions as well.

Both of those are excellent models and offer high overclocks. Tracers are just regular Ballistix with little LEDs on them. Corsair Dominators, Patriot Vipers, Buffalo Firestix, and Kingston HyperX are the high end overclocking models I know. A little cheaper and also good are Corsair XMS2, OCZ metal series (gold, platinum, etc), Patriot Extremes, and Mushkin (which tends to be the cheapest). Also good on a budget are the kits from G.Skill, GeIL, and surprising Transcend and Wintec which are a more lower grade RAM.

Since RAM is so dirt cheap right now, I'd say either the Tracers, Reapers, Dominators or Vipers are all good choices, with a personal preferences towards the Tracers since Crucial is Micron's own company.

I purchased the Corsair XMS2 TWIN2X2048-6400C4 2GB 2X1GB PC2-6400 DDR2-800 CL 4-4-4-12 240PIN Dual Channel Memory for $115 bucks, and it came with a rebate for $30 bucks , so it ends up costing me something like 59 bucks in the end. So I have a total of 4gigs, the ram has never given me a problem, looks nice and sturdy, easy to put in... although I have not overclocked it.....

I have some G.Skill and they overclock fairly well. But for price/performance, I have to recommend Crucial Ballistix. They are crazy cheap at the 'egg right now: Newegg.com - Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Retail $50 after rebate for top shelf RAM!!!!

OH yea, that is a great find Yellow
Awesome RAM!!!
Only draw back, a lot of motherboards are real picky on the ram, and I have heard several times that the Ballistix would not work. Mainly boards that are running the Nforce 4 through the Nforce 570 chips

Theoretically yes, but you can't really know for sure unless you try it out.

If I was buying a kit of DDR2 today, hands down it would be the Crucial Ballistix for $55 shipped after MIR. We've consistently been impressed with every Crucial kit we've reviewed, including this one, and with the recent price drops, $55 is nothing short of highway robbery.
