| With a system running vista is 2 gb of ram enough? what got me thinking was the are selling "vista upgrades" of ram at 4 gb. And the platinum revision 2 gb kit has a $40 rebate atm, so in the end it will only cost me $59.99, so i was thinking i might just go for 2 2gb kits, thats 4 gb's at $120. | I'm Evil | Unless you have a 64-bit OS, 4GB of memory is a complete waste INTEL QX9650 ASUS P5E3 Premium 4GB DDR3-1600 Sapphire HD 3870X2 Danger Den Tower-26 (Custom W/C) 5 x Seagate 250GB HDD in RAID5 BFG ES 800W PSU |

| aka Mike Honcho | i had vista ultimate 64 with 4gb and judging from the core/memory usage gadget, i never exceeded 2gb. this is during daily use and benchmarks when i could actually see the gadget. either way, i personally had a frustrating time with vista and i'm not using it at the moment. it is probably better now but i'm going to wait for a service pack to come out as i'm enjoying the stability of xp. | My dad ran vista with 512MB of RAM and that was fairly fast there was the constant hitting of the hard drive and no driver's for anything then though so we gave up and put XP back on. |

| Depends on what you'll be doing on the system as to if 4 GB will make a noticable difference. The 32-bit Vista can only address 3.5 GB, so 512MB of the 4 gigs will be left unused, but...if you're doing a lot of video editing or other high-RAM usage apps that extra 1.5 GB will really help. If on the other hand your running the 64-bit version of Vista, it will see and utilize all 4 gigs. If you're not running any RAM intensive apps or games, I'd stick with the 2 GB.
