Default Super Talent T1000UX2G5 PC2-8000 Memory

With Microsoft's Vista operating system and newer games like Supreme Commander sucking up system resources, 2GB of system memory is no longer a luxury, it's is fast becoming a necessity. However, not just any 2GB kit will do the job, save for those running systems from Dell, Gateway, etc. For them, they'll probably never know the difference or benefits of a quality memory kit. But for those who pride themselves on benchmarking and fine tuning their systems to the cutting edge, only high octane components will do.

Today, HardwareLogic looks at Super Talent's T1000UX2G5 PC2-8000 2GB memory kit. Rated at DDR2-1000 with latencies of 5-5-5-15, Super Talent's DDR2-1000 kit bridges the gap between DDR2-800 kits and insanely overclocked (and grossly overpriced) enthusiast kits that are hitting DDR2-1200 speeds.

So who is Super Talent? While it may be hard to believe, they've been around for 20 years. However, up until the last year or so, many had never heard of Super Talent or realized the variety of products they offer. From high speed enthusiast RAM, to excellent flash memory, and even MP3 players, Super Talent has established a firm foothold in a number of different markets.

Nice review Rich. Kinda interesting that the 680i board you have is a tad finicky with the ram when trying to hit 1000mhz. I know I had some smallish issues trying to get over 1000Mhz myself, but at least mine did it. I wonder what it is about the 680i and high speed ram?

Well, if you google 680i memory problems....theres a ton of them. most are people burning up their memory putting too much voltage through them, but if you dig through the threads, many are having serious issues getting their memory to work with any stability at 1000MHz and over......to the point where techs are recommending underclocking the memory and tightening the latencies (Honestly, you'll see better performance with slightly lower clock speeds and tighter timings, but people get hung up on the MHz).

I'm sure I could have tinkered for several hours with various memory settings, but I try to keep things simple....in doing that i hope to show results that most people can achieve by simple plug n play their memory

Nice review Rich. I liked the fact that the memory is manufactured in the U.S. Nice pics of the company too.
