| Hi there, If i have a 64-bit OS, then tried to load 8gb of RAM onto a motherboard that has 4-slot and suppot this, then what would be the best combination and speed for the RAM with regards to cost efficiency. Can you have two kits of 2gb, in other words to have two 2X2GB kits, is that compatible .... or is it just as fast for me to buy 4 single 2gb ram sticks. Also does it make much difference between speeds of 533, 677 and 800? Also does the Ram need to be buffered or is unbuffered better ? Thanks for your help, Nick. | ||||||||||||||

| The choice of how to load the RAM, as in how to buy it is up to you and the cost involved. For example for 4 Gig I find it cheaper to get it as 2 kits of 2x1gig. Do some shopping and find the best buy. As for the speed of the RAM, this is the BIGGEST factor in RAM speed, the faster the RAM the better. However you are limitted by motherbaord support as to what speed to use. See what speed the baord supports and get the fastest it can use. Buffered and Unbuffered is again back to the motherbaord, or actually the memory controller on the motherbaord. personally I have not used a buffered based system so I cannot state if it is better or not. I can say most systems used unbuffered.
