Default quick question

i was wondering... my computer can only run as high as 667mhz ram. am i able to put in 800mhz and have it run at the lower speed? im just waiting for my new board to come in and i wanted to pick up the new ram this weekend. and i was thinking of using it until i got my board in.

basically your mobo will down speed your ram to 667mhz, because that is what its only capable of if i read the specification correctly...

Yep, that correct. My mobo does that with my RAM too, even though it's capable of running 800MHz... strange, huh?

it happened to my Intel B975XDX mobo, i uses Corsair 6400 and it just freeze up everytime i manually bump it to 800MHZ, so it basically downspeed it to 667mhz, sometime it also made it to 533mhz with auto calibrate in the bios.

Did you bother to check if the timings and voltage were right?

yes i did check it, everytime i turn it to auto in ram settings in bios it down speed it, and everytime i manually set it to the manufacturers ram specification it gives me a BSOD...
