Default Memtest86 +

Is there a newer version of memtest86 that supports my 965p chipset?

I have V 1.65 and it doesn't support my motherboard for all the advanced display and testing options. The test will run but it doesn't show me everything i'd like to see.

Anyone have a newer version that does?

10/01/2005 was the last update. Sry!

And what do you mean doesn't show you what you like to see?

I'd like to find out if there's a chipset emulator out there somewhere. That'd be extremely useful.

WTF would be the point of that? And how would the be possible, in all seriousness...

Think Yuri!

Think Yuri!
The point of it would be to run incompatible kernels on exotic chipsets such as the ATI ones. It'd be possible by booting the emulator on startup and emulating a virtual environment for the kernel you're trying to boot. It's perfectly possible, but I don't know whether it exists or not. I'm gonna do a little Googling when I get the chance.

And this would benefit the enthusiasts world how? I don't think more than 3% and you could find that beneficial

I still don't think its possible to truly emulate a chipset. And if you could, do you realize just how slow it would be? You would have to make your own emulator for your own chipset of the specific chipset you wish to emulate.

I'm not saying that it'd be the biggest thing since individually wrapped cheese slices, but it'd be useful for testing compatibility when developing new kernels and for people like me who are using unsupported chipsets. Very small target audience, but very useful nonetheless

Well then, you'd better get cracking! Also see my edit in my post above.

First......Yuri......go sit in the corner until I get an answer ...thankyou!!

Next..... everything on the Chipset line and the settings line on the display below is blank on my machine when I run it.

Click the image to open in full size.
This is from a memoy review article on my memory. But when I run it on my machine, it leaves those two lines blank.

I just noticed this is memtest86 and mine is memtest86+, I wonder if that is why?

considering less than 3% of the consumer market uses linux, that percentage is not out of the question for the need of something

Thanks HL and Corsair!
