Default Memory pushed too hard?

As i've stated before i use OCZ VX EL 3200 1 gige. Its volted to 3.2 now and my cpu runs 267 x 9 with a 9/10 divider. I tried to run these settings ontop of a latency of 2-2-2-7 but my computer jsut crashed on me when using prime 95. =P

E2140 @ 375 x 8 = 3.0ghz
2x1 ocz system 1337s pc2-6400 5-5-5-15 @ 450mhz
gigabyte P35 S3L
eVGA 7600GT Stock
120 gig seagate
ULTRA X-Finity 600w
Sonata 2 w/ top fan
G5 Lazer Mouse

just means it isn't stable, and that you need to back the settings down a bit to find stability.
What is your memory currently at, under CPU-Z? Even with the divider, its till well past its DDR400 specs.
this is just my opinion, but i'd back the memory down as close to DDR400 as you can, and drop the voltage....or you will be looking for a new memory kit fairly soon

INTEL QX9650 // Gigabyte EP45 Extreme // 8GB PC2-8500 // BFG GTX260 MaxCore // DD Torture Rack // Seagate 750GB HDD // OCZ Vendetta // PC Power & Cooling 620W PSU

but i thought it was built for 3.2 volts anyways? and wahts ddr 400 specs?

Also i can run prime 267 with normal bus clocks. However, if i add any extra stress like messanger, then it crashes. If i'm relaly keen on making it 2400 mhz, i could dropt eh divider to 8/10

Check the OCZ website for your memory kit. On the site it should say the rated voltage.

DDR400 spec the stock speed at which it is designed to run. DDR stands for Double Data Rate. 400 is the speed. Since is double data rate, it is really running at 200. When you are running your memory at 1:1, everytime you raise your fsb up one, your memory will go up one.

So an fsb of 205 will yield a DDR speed of 205 or 410.

Yes, that is correct. But that last statement should be worded like:
"So an HTT speed of 205mhz will yield a memory speed of 205mhz or DDR410 (assuming a 1:1 CPU:RAM divider)."

justin, try dropping your HTT back down to 200mhz and put the divider at 1:1 and run at the 2-2-2 timings with 3.2v. Then run Memtest86+ for a while and make sure it is stable at those stock speeds. Then from there, start increasing the HTT speed a few mhz at a time (keeping the 1:1 divider) and test with memtest at each change. When memtest fails, then you have found your max speed. Back off the HTT to your previously stable setting and you have your highest memory speed overclock. From there you can calculate the dividers you need to find and test the maximum CPU and HTT speed for your highest overall system overclock.

Yes. My mistake. A64s no longer have an fsb.

Exactly. This is what I am in the process of doing right now.

Note that you will need to download an .iso file of memtest 86+ and then you will need to burn it onto a disk. I think with the DFIs though, there is actually a built in memtest. look for it. I saw it somewhere.

I had a good feeling about that one
