You know I have sort of been wondering about that. I know for dual channel to work you need both sticks to be identical. I have been wondering if you could use two different sets in the two channels? I have 2 sets of 1 Gig sticks and have debated if i wanted to try them as a 4 gig setup.

I'm running 2 1gig sticks and 2 512mb sticks right now and CPUZ is reporting them as dual channel.

im honestly thinking that it would be more beneficial to run dual channel 2GB instead of dual channel 3GB, and then when you can muster up cash for another 2 sticks of RAM, go 4GB (all 1GB sticks). this is what i'd do.

General speaking, yes, but it depends on your motherboard.

Also keep in mind that a 32-bit OS will not recognize 4GB of memory correctly, so its really a waste.......

Well, the reason I wanted to get 2gb is because they don't have the 512MB each, so they only sell 1GB now..

It would be a long stretch to say the standard user needs 3GB of memory too.

If there is a final hour, let's hope for a higher power. One by one, and two by two, I have ammo, what about you?
