| ![]() When it comes to enthusiast memory, Kingston is not the first name that usually comes to mind. Although Kingston markets themselves as the "World's independent memory leader", that title takes into account their desktop, server, PDA, and burgeoning flash memory lines. When it comes to system memory, Kingston's HyperX line offers the enthusiast market some great performance options, however the price generally makes their memory unattractive to those trying to find a balance between price and performance. | Agreed. Like mentioned in the article, you can get a really good 2GB DDR2-800 kit for the price of this stuff. There are even 2GB DDR2-1000 kits for near $200. Kingston needs to start offering a little something extra to the package if they want to be able to compete at these price points or they just need to lower the price. | ||||||||||||||

| You touch on something thats really beyond me.....Kingston actually makes some very good memory, and their PC2-9600 kits are actually the fastest on the market. The problem is they are consistently priced much higher than like spec'ed kits. If Kingston priced their kits more competitively, they would have no problem grabbing a much bigger market share. | Nice review Rich! The price is a pretty big turnoff, though I still like my Kingston ValueRAM! I even used Kingston when I upgraded the memory in my laptop :D Intel Core 2 Duo E6420 Conroe @ 2.80GHz Cooler Master GeminII - Thanks Rich and HL! | I think I've had a different brand of RAM with every purchase I've made. My first kit ever was a 2x256MB kit of Kingston HyperX DDR-400 (2-2-3-5) (didn't overclock too well though unfortunately). Haven't bought anything from Kingston since. Not because their products weren't good (because that is absolutely not true), but because there were always good alternatives at cheaper price points. | ||||||||||||||
