Default Kingston HyperX KHX6400D2LLK2/2G 2GB PC2-6400/DDR-800 Review

In todays world of DDR2 kits rated at 1066, 1100, and even 1200MHz, it's almost hard to get excited about an 800MHz DDR2 kit. However, with very few motherboards natively supporting memory over 800MHz (even the high-end 975X chipset only officially supports DDR2-667), those high end kits are only worthwhile to those with motherboards supporting higher speeds, and of course, hardcore overclockers. Users who prefer overall system performance versus raw speed will definitely find their money better spent on an extra gig of RAM than a few more megahertz.

Can you really notice a discernible difference between 1GB and 2GB of memory?

I'd imagin so, in gaming anyways. I can't see any virtual memory being used/needed/wanted with that much RAM.

Nice review Drew!

Not all the time, but when I've got alot of stuff going on at once, I can definitely tell it's there. It's a happy thing to quickly alt+tab from oblivion to photoshop with winamp, skype, trillian, outlook, AVG, multiple tabs in firefox, and whatever else running in the background. =)
The difference will probably be even more noticeable in Vista.

That's ok, you're in good company, I've never had the pleasure of ever using a computer with 2GB of memory either.

closest I got was testing my current XP3000+ system with 1.5GB and there was not that big of a jump in gaming or any performance at this level of the game but I am sure witht he better games and more capable machines it will be nice. My planned build will carry 2GB

Thanks HL and Corsair!
