Default Just bought 2GB of DDR2; How should I test it?

I want to test my ram, but I don't wanna run memtest for a bajillion hours. So whats a good way to test ram? Maybe Prime95 "Blend" Torture test?

Or is Memtest really the only way to go?

OCCT Petroiska.
Ocbase et OCCT - L'union des overclockers - OCCT Official Website

Go into settings and choose RAM. Let it run at the pre-programmed 30 minutes. Quick test and normally find the bugs. :)

I would normally recommend Memtest but since you don't want to use it...
OCCT it is. You only need to run it for half an hour! How great is that?

I Like Watercooling. D-Tek Fuzion, MCP655, MCR220

Well, originally I wanted to quickly test so I could play games with it. But after 2nd period today, when i realized I had a doctor's appointment after school I developed a plan.

I was hoping it would be delivered by the time I got home today.... So I could run memtest while I was at the doctor's office today. That would be an easy 2 hours of testing. But since UPS isn't half the delivery service that FedEX is, and since UPS replaced FedEx as the cheapest shipping from newegg, and even though my ram was Out for Delivery less than 20 miles from MY HOUSE, it hasn't come in yet.

So I will run OCCT before I play games and then I'll memtest it overnight.

[edit] Disregard all of the above. The ram just came in 2 minutes ago :)[/edit]

How do u run memtest for like 12 hours straight?

Or do U just press RUN and it keeps going and going and going and going?

Exactly right
It will run endlessly until your computer freezes or you stop the test. Even if it detects errors it will still keep goin'.

Well..... The results are in....

crap

Got so many errors I don't even want to think about it. Click the image to open in full size.

Linky 2 Results =(

WHAA!!!

I had my 2 x 1gb located in slots 1 & 3 (the two yellow ones) and I had my 2 x 512mb in 2 & 4 (the two red ones)

=(

So... I guess I have to do an RMA :'(

Unless there's any chance that Memtest86 v3.2 is at fault here, which I'm sure it isnt.

Is there any specific way that you're supposed to install your ram modules which could have caused this problem? Both are same types of memory, both are dual channel and I have em set up in their dual channel slots.

Try testing them in the red slots. Also test each stick individually to see if only one stick is throwing errors. Finally, double check your BIOS settings to make sure everything is in check. Even better would be to load the Fail Safe Defaults in the BIOS and retest. What memory did you get?
