Question I can't decide on memory!

Ok so I have this 2GB 800Mhz Crucial kit in my cart from newegg, but not sure if I want those or not...

I'm looking for a 2GB kit of 800Mhz DDR2 w/Cas 4.

Here is the link to Newegg's list of 2GB kits (800Mhz, cas 4).

I'm going to do some OC'ing on these mems, BTW.
Any help would be appreciated!

Any particular reason for waffling on the Crucial Ballistix kit? That's an awesome kit of memory, and a steal at that rebated price.

Barring that, and assuming you're okay with MIRs, Corsair's Dominator kit stands out as another exceptional value.

Theres nothing wrong with the crucial kit, just want to know my other options.
The dominator kit is the other kit I like too.

Is there much difference in the dominator vs. crucial? performance wise?

BTW, MIR's are fine with me. My dad finds it fun to work with the company about the MIR's he does :)
He's never lost the war when it comes to MIR's....

No, it will come down to luck of the draw. Both are excellent kits with the potential for decent overclocking headroom. I lean slightly towards the Crucial kit myself, but it's really a coin toss.

Look at some of our memory reviews....We stress test our kits harder than anyone else....so you aren't getting a review with inaccurate clock speeds or latencies that "booted up fine"....even though they aren't stable.

Grab that Crucial PC2-8500 kit (its rated at 5-5-5-15 @ PC2-8500), and it'll exceed PC2-8000 at 4-4-4-10(or 12)......if you don't like the lights, skip the Tracer kit and just get the Ballistix version.

I have a set of the [4-4-4-12 DDR2 6400] Dominators and they OC very solidly at 4-4-4-12 DDR2 8000 but past that you must begin upping the latencies.

They don't pair well at all with other Ram without upping the latencies or dropping the speed. [However most don't pair well anyway]

Mine were under a Gemini 2 with 2 120MM fans however and getting a lot of air for cooling.

I've heard as good or better results with the Crucial.

I simply LOVE my Crucial Ballistix kit. I'm gonna grab another one soon and go for a 64-bit OS...

But that's not happening until things become more stable and compatible with them. But, even if I don't wanna go with x64 yet, I will get that other set eventually.

In any case, Dominator is great but a bit overpriced really. Ballistix are amazing. Solid as ever, and O/C amazingly.

Get the Crucial with the tracers baby!!!They are really cool and like others have said, nothing wrong with crucial memory.I have 4 sticks in my case and the colors are really wild. That is if you have a window in your case.Otherwise the color is useless.just my $.02
