| I'm Evil | As DDR2 meanders to obsolescence, we're going to send it out with a bang......Today HL begins a four review series covering some enthusiast kits that not only tickle the overclocking itch, but do it without breaking the bank. We'll begin our journey with Crucials PC2-8500 Tracer Memory Kit, for those of you that want bling in your case....it doesn't get much better than this. Last week we had the opportunity to ask some questions of Kelly Sasso, Marketing Maven of Crucial Technology, among the topics of interest for our Forum Members (Besides DDR3) was Crucial's Ballistix Line of memory. Built using the best of the best Micron ICs, Crucial Ballstix is well regarded in the enthusiast community as a top notch performer in an extremely competitive overclocking crowd. The Tracer Series utilizes the same high quality Ballistix parts, it just adds some bling by way of some LEDs integrated into the heat spreader. | I'm Evil | I was torn about the score I gave the kit.....Its easily the highest score we've given a reviewed product, and I honestly could have given this kit a "100" DDR2-1225 at 2.2V....for under $150???!!!! Considering its a Crucial kit, thats hard to beat INTEL QX9650 ASUS P5E3 Premium 4GB DDR3-1600 Sapphire HD 3870X2 Danger Den Tower-26 (Custom W/C) 5 x Seagate 250GB HDD in RAID5 BFG ES 800W PSU |
