Default Corsair Dominator TWIN2X2048-8500C5DF Review

Not too long ago, an F3 tornado tore through my home, destroying almost everything my family had built up over the last 18 years. My loved ones were safe, but my computers weren't so lucky. Rest assured, it will take more than a tornado to keep me down, and jumping right back into the fray, today I'm looking at the Corsair TWIN2X2048-8500C5DF memory modules as my first review after the storm! Will this turn out to be a good experience, or another ordeal I could have done without? Let's find out... -Tom Black

bah! Memory, who needs memory!!!??? What's my name again? Oh yea

Good review tom, glad to see your back up and running :D What's with the SLi/crossfire certified memory trend? It doesn't encourage me to buy it just over that.

SLI ready is basically saying, for the large majority of manufacturers, that the memory has been tested and is compatible with SLI ready motherboards. The EPP label means much better system settings for the casual overclocker, but the die-hard enthusiast is still going to want to manually tweak the memory timings and FSB. This feature, while present on the memory module, isn't fully supported by every board out there. So if the Bios on your mobo or perspective mobo doesn't support EPP, there's zero reason to get EPP ready Ram.

Perhaps one of the greatest things about EPP memory is the ability for the memory to scale better with the overclocker that simply keeps a 1:1 ratio and pushes their CPU to the memory's maximum FSB. This overclocker just wants more performance without the hassles of manually setting the memory timings. For this purpose, it works impressively better than the standard SPD settings do.

ahh ok, I thought it had something to do with the SLi configuration itself for some reason.
