| Hey, I am getting a new system and I am looking for good DDR2-800 ram with the Micron D9 chips. I have a few options and I was wondering which you guys think gives the best performance. mushkin eXtreme Performance 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) with EPP Profile Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Retail Newegg.com - mushkin eXtreme Performance 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) with EPP Profile Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Retail Team Group Xtreem 2 Gb Kit DDR2 (2x 1Gb) 4-4-4-10 800Mhz 2 Gb Kit DDR2 (2x 1Gb) 4-4-4-10 800Mhz - TXDD2048M800HC4DC by: Team - Cell Shock 2 Gb Kit (2x1Gb) 4-4-4-12 800Mhz 2 Gb Kit (2x1Gb) Cell Shock 4-4-4-12 800Mhz - CS2221041 by: Cell Shock I was originally planning on getting the Team Group ram (because Blake used it with the ECS KA3 MVP board and got great results). But now I am getting a $400 gift card to NewEgg and won't have enough money in paypal to buy from tankguys. So which do you think is the best, and why? If there is some other Micron D9 memory at NewEgg that is also good and in the same price range as the memory I listed then please feel free to let me know. Thanks, -robodude666 | ||||||||||||||

| That Mushkin kit looks nice, but it's way over priced. For that much money you could get memory rated at much faster at the same price. I do like my Team Group Team Xtreem though, but haven't really had a chance to really push it and see what it is capable of. | ||||||||||||||

| Hey, I read many many reviews about the motherboard I am getting. All of the reviews used popular brands like OCZ, crucial, corsair, etc and all of them got not such amazing overclocks (2.0GHz --> 2.3GHz on average). Blake used the Team Group Xtreem memroy with the Micron D9 chip and he got an amazing 2.7GHz and a HTT of about 293MHz. Which is beyond anything I ever saw. I just thought that maybe having the Micron D9 works best with this motherboard. I also need DDR2-800. The motherboard doesn't support DDR2-1100 or 1066 :( I read that G.Skill and Crucial Ballistix both have Micron D9 chips in them. Is this true? -robodude666 | ||||||||||||||

| As stated above, the ECS KA3 MVP. Sorry, I didn't make it very clear in my first post. I will be using the ECS KA3 MVP board. Blake did a review on it and he used the Team Group ram and got good results! | ||||||||||||||

| cpu fsb at 293 leaves the memory either 1) underclocked at 740 if using a 4:5 divider or 2) OC'd to 887 if using a 2:3 divider. Not all memory will OC that high as one stick will and the next may only OC to 805. This is all dependent on the memory, mobo, cpu, and BIOS... Typically it is better to kick it to 4:5 and leave the memory underclocked.... but if the system can handle it you can try going over 800 ![]() Thanks HL and Corsair! | Blake ran the memory at 533 when it was at 2.7GHz because the motherboard couldn't output enough voltage to keep it stable at 800MHz. Will I notice a noticeable decrease in speed and performance if I lower the memory that much? | ||||||||||||||

| not unless you are into benchmarking, its more a bandwidth issue than anything.... As memory kits and results....they vary greatly from batch to batch. companies switch ICs all the time, and even like ICs will show a wide variance in performance, depending on the batch they came from. | Well, I plan on doing a few benchmarks for reviews I will write for all the products I will buy for my new system. I won't really do benchmarks for competition or anything. So, what would you suggest as the best overclockable DDR2-800 2x 1GB kit for a decent price? | ||||||||||||||
