Default Aeneon XTUNE DDR3-1333 2GB Memory Kit Review

While almost every enthusiast who has tinkered with memory knows the name Infineon, few know Infineon's memory division, Qimonda (The #3 DRAM maker in the world), or Qimonda's retail branch Aeneon (Although, again, those familiar with memory ICs, might recognize the name from some pretty good enthusiast kits). Aeneon memory has, until recently, made their mark primarily as a supplier of OEM parts for notebooks and desktops.

Wow very disappointing results for this ram. Are you finding most DDR3 to be less than expected Rich?

I think once the market starts shifting more toward DDR3 and it gets the popular vote, we'll see much faster kits. DDR3 is going through prettymuch the same growing pains as DDR2 did back when it first hit; rediculously expensive and not much faster. When both Intel and AMD have DDR3 platforms available, then we'll probably start seeing a shift toward DDR3 adoption.

No, its a decent kit....the warranty is whats disappointing.

As far as GOOD kits, I have 3 super kits I'm finishing up this weekend from Crucial, Corsair, and Kingston that all are rated above DDR3-1600

Thanks HL and Corsair!

That really sums it up, along with the lackluster warranty.

When you have Crucial, OCZ, Kingston, Corsair, and Mushkin offering REAL lifetime warranties......at a better price...its a hard sell.

Keep in mind, this kit ran pretty damned good without any voltage boost, and was a pretty good overclocker to boot.

MAn I can't wait to see these articles. I am getting ready to make the move to DDR3 in the next few months and want to find that perfect kit, like the D9 of DDR2...

These Aeneon sticks don't look too bad. Not something I'd consider buying.... DDR3 is DDR3 I guess and they benched OK.

I love Crucial and Corsair memory....great stuff....but OCZ is undoubtedly the best bang for the buck stuff you can get. This kit is $150 cheaper than comparable kits from the other two.
