Default 4gigs, 3.5gigs showing, etc.

What cpu-z shows:

What system properties shows:

What is shown on the memory tab in task manager:

I just noticed this today. As you can see, my problem is that only 3581MB of memory is showing, as if I was running a 32-bit OS. But what makes my case so special is that I'm running vista 64-bit. Google will of course turn that the reason I can't address all 4 gigs is that I'm using a 32-bit OS :\ So, any ideas as to why my 64-bit OS is behaving like a 32-bit one?

Update your BIOS if it's an older one.
Check for an option such a "memory mapping" or "remapping" in your BIOS and enable it.
That's what I can think about right now.

If there is a final hour, let's hope for a higher power. One by one, and two by two, I have ammo, what about you?

Latest, F11. It detects all 4 gigs as well, and the only thing with memory in the name was no execute memory something something :P It was enabled, disabling it did noting :\ Thanks for the suggestions though.

It's normally something as "I/O remapping" or "memory remapping". I think it has to do with pushing the I/O adressing further or something like that. I'm frankly not very knowledgeable on what it does, but normally that makes the 4GB show correctly. :P

Edit: M$ Support has an article and a patch. Might be worth trying.

Patch is already installed. Looking around again I found something called HTEP or something like that. It was set to 32-bit. I set it to 64-bit but that still hasn't solved the problem :(

Problem is you need a MS hotload that fixes this problem!

goto Welcome to NVIDIA - World Leader in Visual Computing Technologies go as if you are downloading a file and look in the left side panel! gives you a direct jump to the downloads you need!

The problem is to do with the way memory is setup for newer graphic cards...
I may be late here ,BUT I had the same problems a while back!

one thing with 4 gig.. if you have to reinstal Windose, Pull 2 gig as if you don,t you will get the dreaded BSOD,as the install don't like 4 gig mode!
I,m running VISTA home premuim 64bit and it don,t like it at all!

new guy on the block!

Cheers Dennis

3 x 300gig Maxtor Sata drives

1 x DIVCO PCI-E HDTV card
1 x ADA PCI HDTV card
