| You can install it but 32 bit XP will only show 2.5 to 3.5 of the installed Ram. Various reasons ... there are several links in this site that cover them ... just not sure where. However here is the basics. Your systems memory configuration on the 32 bit XP can only address up to 4GB ... of which it [by old design] must reserve some for your hardware ... trust me on this ... so if you have memory intensive hardware like a 768MB Video card ... the left over lower addressed ram will be less ... maybe under 3GB showing ... If you don't plan on upgrading to 64 bit in the next year or two and it is cheaper to get 3GB ... go that way. If it is cheaper to go with 4GB ... then just go that way and realize ... what shows in windows will not be that 4GB ... Main: 3ghzQ6600, Gemini2, IP35 Pro, PC 610W PSU, 4GB 6400, XP Pro, 500GB raid 0, 22" + (2)19" WS LCD's w/ Palit 9600 GT and Dual Core Notebook. Cambridge # 12 Portable, Rode Podcaster Fios-15mbs Server: 3.6ghzE3110 Big Typhoon, Gigabyte P35-DS4, 550VX PSU, 8GB DDR2 8000, XP 64, 320GB raid 0, (2) 19" WS LCD, XFX 9600GT, HT 550Pro, BoomTube Portable VidServer: 3ghzQ6600, Nirvana, BloodIron, PC 610W PSU, 4GB 6400, XP Pro, ATI, Bose Sound. Draft-N LanBox: IceCube, 3.6ghzE8400, HDT, EVGA mATX, PSU, 2GB, XP, XFX, 500Gb Sata. |

| Colonel Calamity | The 9 series Geforce cards will not be put to its full power using XP. They have updated a few things so that they run best when using Vista due to DirectX 10.1 but you will still get awesome performance in XP. As for the memory, the only one that will see and use 4GB or more is a 64-bit OS such as XP 64-bit or Vista 64-bit. Here a link to help explain some Where are we going, and what's with the handbasket? : Who ate my memory? ![]() Thanks HL and Corsair! | Colonel Calamity | the main info to date is looking at 9600 and 9800... as for 9900 that may be an extra clock boost or small changes but that would be 6-12 months down the road. ![]() Thanks HL and Corsair! My opinions are my own and not representative of this site or its members. |

| Functional Alcoholic | Top of the line graphics cards are like women, when they first come out they are expensive, hot, sexy and will do anything you want them to do. After about a year, they are out dated, boring, only do the same old boring things you have grown tired of and something sexier is available. |

| Nehalem | Screwball supplied a very good link for you to read over and here is one I had dug up yesterday that may help. Ask Dan: What's with the 3Gb memory barrier? |
