Isopropyl Rubbing Alcohol, and a cotton ball, then blow off the left over fibers with a can of air. For thicker pastes scrap it off first with something like a credit card.

rubbing alcohol and coffee filters. i have a bottle of 92% rubbing alcohol and it works pretty well. 70% will work, it just wont dry as fast (not that i ever wait for it to dry, i wipe it off with a clean coffee filter)

Double check your monitor cables and make sure everything is connected correctly. Also check to make sure the video card is seated properly and any power connectors for the video card are fully connected. Do you get any beeps from the motherboard? Do the fans and drives spin up?

Sounds like the cpu got left unplugged... that's what normally causes that problem for me.

And if they are bent (if you haven't already done this), make sure you DON'T FORCE IT INTO THE SOCKET. That's the worst.
