Default System rebooting after reapplying Arctic Silver

I just reapplied some Arctic Silver to my processor because my system was rebooting while running certain programs. I think it was due to overheating because the Arctic Silver wasn't applied correctly the 1st time. Now after applying just a small amount to the chip when I try and boot up the system cuts off. Any thoughts?

Did you follow the instructions closely?

Sometimes people fail to clean the base of the cooler or the heat spreader on the CPU, which can cause problems. Then some people don't apply the thermal compound correctly, which can also be a problem. Lastly, make sure the heat sink is seated properly, and that its secured....and that the fan is connected to the motherboard.

^^^^ What He said. I always leave the cover off my computer when I install the proc just to make sure the fan starts.
