| NCIX still has s939 Opteron chips, the Opteron 185-2.6Ghz looks like a very nice cpu, it's also the max CPU my Mobo will support. And it's a few hundred dollars cheaper then the similar FX series. || AMD Athlon64 3800+ Venice | Asus A8N5X s939 | OCZ Premier PC3200 Du-Ch 1GB | Sapphire X1600Pro 512MB PCI-e | 1xWD 80Gb & 1xWD 250Gb Sata(s) | Antec SLK3800B Case | Enermax NoiseTaker 485W || Last edited by pc_guy; December 9th, 2006 at 05:07. |

| I'm Diggin it! | I figured it was going to be gone soon. AMD, IMHO, has screwed some of us that were loyal to them with the change from socket 939 to AM2 and now, a new socket coming out soon. Forget what they call it, but AMD fan's have gotten a real good taste of what the Intel Fan's have been going through. Glad I got that 4800+ for my s939 board when I did. For some reason, I just never saw them getting too much lower than the $300 I paid for mine. | Colonel Calamity | all the remaining, clearance and sale prices of these procs over the next year should drop significantly then start its climb back up... nowadays it is hard to find a new SocketA Barton for a decent price. ![]() Thanks HL and Corsair! My opinions are my own and not representative of this site or its members. |

| socket 939 junkie | Quote:
yeah i hate to see the 939 socket die and i agree that its still a heckuva platform but its an unfortunate necessity for amd considering that conroe is tearing it up right now and with the dell deal sucking up a good amount of chips. it just isnt feasible considering amd's not king of the hill at this time. | Boo...when I bought my 939 just this summer I figured even though it wouldn't be AM2 or Conroe, it would have an upgrade path. Apparently not. |
