Default Quad core Xeon 3210 Vs E8400

So I used the quad core Xeon 2.13@ 3.2ghz and she runs great. I do a lot of gaming and multi tasking. This week I bought DDR3 and a E8400 to put in a brand new EP35C-DS3R. I ran the Xeon in a P5K Premium with 4gb of DDR2. Now I'm running the E8400 in the gigabyte board(which runs so damn cool and efficiently) with only 2GB of DDR3-1333. I can get the memory to around 1584 stable, that is the max. I just beat the end of Bioshock with the E8400\DDR3 and it did feel smoother and faster than the Quad... I'm still working on the OC to get 4.0ghz stable. This gigabyte board has a droop problem, where the old Asus had Load Line Calibration which eliminated vdroop. I am liking the E8400\DDR3\EP35C-DS3R combo better... What do you guys think?

Agreed. This thing is really fun to play with and it's a superb performer. I absolutely love mine, and at first I thought of getting a Q9450 but I don't think about it anymore. Plenty fast. :)

I would take the faster clock speed over more cores, so E8400 for me. I just got one myself, running great. SupCom replays were never able to play back smoothly at a fast speed with my E2140, but the E8400 is like butter.

I love the EP35 boards... can't comment about the DDR3 or E8X00 CPUs....

SupCom does seem to work better with more cache.. it is smooth as can be on my E6600

Thanks HL and Corsair!

The EP35, the CPU VRM runs sooooo coool. Even under 12hrs of prime95 it's still cool. The Board dissipates heat the best I've seen any do so/

I guess I will Keep on working on getting 4ghz stable. I've had it up to 4.2 but the voltage scares me. What kind of voltages are you guys reading in CPUz?

Under load 1.360v, idle 1.368v. BIOS 1.3875v, load-line calibration on. Gotta love that feature. :)

Heck yeah and it would do it with a 2.13ghz quad clocked to 3.2@ 1.4v.

The E8400 is priming @ 4.0ghz with 1.312v actual. But like 1.385 is set in the bios..
I set the multi to 8x and FSB to 500 to string the most out of this DDr3-1333, it's running 1600 now but I do not know if it's gonna be 100% stable.

And after all this time I finally read the Gigabyte manual to find out that MCH mean memory controller hub. Learn something new everyday.

With my E6600 at around 2.9GHz, the voltage was not touched, stayed around 1.27-1.3V according to CPUz
