Default P4 3.0 ghz vs _________

What dual multi-core processor outperforms a P4 3.0 GHZ processor and ends up cheaper than the P4? Or is there a multi-core cheaper than a P4? Just curious. I'm not familiar with at what point a multi core (being of less mhz) outperforms a single core (of more mhz). Both opinions and facts are welcomed. Thanks =)

Overclocking that dual core would require more than stock cooling, eh?

That's a very hefty increase in performance. I hadnt' expected that much. Nice site too *bookmarked*

I have always heard and seen that it is yellow... not everything is perfect but a very large wealth of online information.

Thanks HL and Corsair!

Strangely I've always seen biased reports or almost from Tom's. Comparing with my own experiences.

*cough bribing cough*
At any rate, you can get quite a nice improvement from OC'ing those lil guys.

nope, wouldnt need anything really more than stock cooling for a good solid overclock. now if your going to push the cpu, say 3.2+ghz then you might want to consider an after market cooler. really though, i would see how far i could get it on the stock cooler. if it gets near 3ghz with stock voltage and temps stay below my personal threshold (50c) i wouldnt invest in any more cooling. however if it starts nearing 50c yet im running stock voltage and the proc can definitely reach a higher speed, then i would invest in a new cooler. keep in mind, no matter how well you can cool a cpu, it will only overclock so far. a bum oc'er is a bum oc'er no matter how well its cooled.

but what do they gain by showing how superior the core micro architecture is over shitburst....cough...erm netburst? its made by the same company: intel. its not comparing say an athlon x2 to a core 2 duo or a pentium d.

Ask them, not me :P
What if Intel says something such as "we really want to sell those new CPUs... you think you could make it look good?"
