| Whats the difference between normal cpu and xeon ones? eg the q9450 and this Intel E5430A 2.66GHz Quad Core Xeon CPU Intel E6320 1.86GHz Gigabyte 965P-DS3P Corsair 2GB 800MHz XFX 8800 GTS 320MB 250GB Seagate- 750GB WD Antec 900 OCZ GameXtream 700w ThermalTake Big Typhoon VX Windows XP Professional SP2 Razer Deathadder Mouse 24" Widescreen Acer Moniter | ||||||||||||||

| I'll tell you. The Intel Xeon E5450A is a 3Ghz quad core, 1333FSB, 45nm, 12mb cache, 80W TDP, socket 771 processor. The Intel Xeon X5450A is a 3Ghz quad core, 1333FSB, 45nm, 12mb cache, 120W TDP, socket 771 processor. The Intel Xeon X5460A is a 3.16Ghz quad core, 1333FSB, 45nm, 12mb cache, 120W TDP, socket 771 processor. The Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9650 is a 3Ghz quad core, 1333FSB, 45nm, 12mb cache, 130W TDP, socket 775 processor. Unless you have a server motherboard, you cannot use socket LGA771 CPU. ![]() If there is a final hour, let's hope for a higher power. One by one, and two by two, I have ammo, what about you? | ||||||||||||||

| It's easy to get lost at some point with all those CPU's out. @__@ ![]() If there is a final hour, let's hope for a higher power. One by one, and two by two, I have ammo, what about you? | ||||||||||||||

| The s775 Xeon 3350 is here and there and is the same CPU as the Q9450. The availability should be better as well...until more catch on that it's the same thing. The x3350 is a 45nm quad core, in s775 dress and functionality, that runs at 2.66Ghz. Detected and works on any board that would support it's Q9450 brother. The QX6850 is very expensive for what you get in return. I'll have to update more benches to compare the two on the same platform, but I sure am happy with the much more affordable non-extreme procs. | ||||||||||||||

| as an extreme chip owner, i wouldn't recommend buying an extreme chip to anyone else. the big perk of having an unlocked multiplier evaporates when you have motherboards which allow non extreme chips to reach the same overclocks. look at what happened this past year with the q6600 chips. they were able to overclock just as well as extreme chips of the same series using high fsb speeds. and when the G0 chips came out, they spanked my B3 qx6700 chip. intel may be trying to prevent this same thing from happening with the new q9xxx series by locking a lower multiplier on the budget chips but newer boards are still able to reach 500 fsb which makes the q9xxx / xeon chips a great buy.
