| Hello, ![]() I am building up a new PC and i am confused about the processor that i should get (because the prices are same). I have 2 choices: 1-Intel Core Duo E2180 2.00GHz, 1MB Cache, 800MHz FSB Socket 775. 2-Intel Pentium D 925 Presler 3.0GHz 2 x 2MB L2 Cache LGA 775, FSB 800MHz please tell me which one is better (on benchmark score). thanks for your answer. |

| I would definitely choose the newer E series as they are Core 2 chips. Much better than any of the older series and runs much cooler, among many other things. |

| I agree with Dr.V. Much better processor. I have a Pentium D 820(2.8Ghz) and I didnt find it to be much better than a P4. When I moved to the E-series processors I was much happier with how it worked IMHO ![]() |

| the E2XXX series has been marketed by intel as the new Pentium D. I'd get that over the Presler which if i remember correctly was like 2 prescotts slapped together. |

| HL's Technomancer | The Pentium D's Presler is two Cedar Mill (Netburst aka Pentium 4) cores, while the E2180 is based on the Allendale (Stripped down Conroe, aka Core2 Duo) cores which make mincemeat of the Pentium D even at their lower clocks. The E2180 not only is far more efficient then the Pentium D, but it's a real overclocking champ. ![]() |

| Forget the 925. They are basically P4 Technology. Without a doubt get the Exxx. | Colonel Calamity | if you have the chance, it is generally suggested to get a E4x00 over a E2x00 if possible but you will see better performance on the E series chips hands down ![]() Thanks HL and Corsair! My opinions are my own and not representative of this site or its members. |
