| Welcome to HardwareLogic! We're very happy to have you here with us. Just to clarify something for you. The E6550 is a CPU. The word "chipset" refers to the type of motherboard chipset you're using. Nvidia makes chipsets for motherboards, like the 650i, 680i, etc, while Intel has the P965, P35 and recently, the X38. When you say chipset on a computer forum, most people think immediately of motherboards, not CPU's. ![]() As far as your needing help with the E6550 CPU, what help do you need? It's an excellent CPU with the typical Intel overclocking potential. If you're looking for someone to say, "Hey, that's a great CPU and if you want to use it in your next build, go right ahead," then consider it said. ![]() Q6600@ 3.2GHz w/ CNPS9700 | EVGA 780i | 2Gb Corsair DDR2-800 | EVGA 9800GTX 512 Video | 1x WD 640Gb HDD, 2x Seagate 400Gb HDD, 1x250Gb WD | 2x Samsung SH-203B Opticals | Antec 900 | ABS/Tagan BZ700 700W PSU | ||||||||||||||

| The time has come for Revenge of the Nerds!
| What kind of help are you looking for with the E6550 processor (chipset refers to the core logic on the motherboard). To answer your second question, all retail packaged processors ship with a heatsink/fan and a 3-year warranty (in this case, from Intel). OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) packaged processors do not ship with a heatsink/fan, and the warranty is at the discretion of the vendor from where you purchased it, which typically varies anywhere from 30 days to 1 year. And finally, if you have a budget in mind along with a set of goals, we can better help guide you in your purchasing decision. | ||||||||||||||

| Looks like a great build there, you should be happy with it. As for the cooler, sometimes if you buy an OEM version it may not come with a heatsink but if you buy a retail version it should ALWAYS come with a heatsink. Sometimes it helps to get a CPNS9550 or aftermarket cooler just for piece of mind. It is all preference, if you are keeping it stick speed then the stock cooler should be fine. ![]() Thanks HL and Corsair! | Looks like a nice little build there. The stock heatsink should be fine if you aren't overclocking. Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 | DFI Blood Iron P35-T2RL | 2GB G.Skill 800MHz | EVGA GeForce 8800GTS 320MB | Silverstone Decathlon 650W | Western Digital 250GB SATA II | ||||||||||||||

| If you havent ordered it yet I would trade out that ram. Its just a personal thing with me, I dont like kingston ram due to the fact I had to RMA several sticks of it. You can get some great ocz, crucial, and corsair for a really good price. I dont know where you are so I cant make any recommendations on where to buy it. -1 I would rather read a NewEgg review than a [H] review | ||||||||||||||

| I myself have had issues with kingston ram in the past as well but my issues all related to nvidia based chipsets so the P35 should be fine but still be cautious. ![]() Thanks HL and Corsair! My opinions are my own and not representative of this site or its members. | ||||||||||||||

| I've got two sticks of Kingston in this 590 SLI and no problems, and I've used them in the past in a VIA board perfectly. Then I've had Corsair and Patriot crap out on me, so I just think it depends on the batches. | ||||||||||||||
