| I'm Evil | How many times have you read a review around the web about the latest and greatest CPU, and see phenomenal overclocking results? I'm not talking 20-30% over stock, I'm talking a 2.66GHz or 3.0GHz Core 2 Duo processor racing past 4.0GHz on air? Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 2.66 GHz 1333MHz FSB Processor ReviewAnd the list goes on and on. Now, realistically these processors probably have even more headroom, but being on a deadline, and considering the work these folks have to put into a quality review, these results are very good. Head over to XS, and you'll see even more incredible OCs from guys like Fugger (who receives cherry picked parts to show off incredible results), and others who have secured ES (Engineering Sample) processors through various means. Almost all review samples are "exceptional parts", and we do everything we can to temper people's enthusiasm in our reviews. However, this weekend's experience set me off. Rich Caporali Read More... | I'm Evil | My point was basically there is an issue with the processor, and they admit as much (as I said early, they even had this issue).....but theres a difference between a CPU that overclocks poorly, and one that has issues with the FSB. when have you ever seen a processor that can't scale with the multiplier dropped? Look past the little picture, to the big picture. INTEL QX9650 ASUS P5E3 Premium 4GB DDR3-1600 Sapphire HD 3870X2 Danger Den Tower-26 (Custom W/C) 5 x Seagate 250GB HDD in RAID5 BFG ES 800W PSU |

| Looks to me like a design flaw, in that even with the multiplier set with a 415 FSB it won't POST even below it's rated spec (GHz). Something fishy. | T-Rex | You're a nO0b, that's why Capper. *prepares for the lynching* But seriously, it sets me off probably as much as it sets you off. Overclocking becoming more "mainstream", more and more clients get tempted to try. They know about the warranty and such, but to keep hearing they expect whatever frequency is just hard to take at some point. And I'm not yet talking about clients asking for tips but never taking them into consideration, because they read that on X website. ![]() Alot of misinformation makes it very hard for us to stay calm, haha. |
