why does it all sound to good to be true? does that mean that the original core 2 duo family will go down in price? the e6600 retails for £140 here so a 0.6ghz increase for £38? sounds gud :)

I think come July 22'nd, there are supposed to be some juicy price cuts on Intel processors all across the board. Just one more nail in AMD's coffin as far as Intel is concerned.

i like the word juicy... :) but something about this all seems fishy.. i mean why sell something better for cheap?

To update on my last comment... ive realised that an e6600 is 3.0ghz when overclocked to fsb 333mhz (in most cases) but the e6850 seems like thats done already...

The basic laws of supply and demand state that lower prices should drive demand up. Apparently Intel feels that by lowering the price, they will sell more processors. Enough, in fact, to either make up for the small reduction in price or lure more people away from the competition's products so they are sucked into buying an Intel motherboard and chipset as well.

They will be luring the hell out of me if the cuts come as anticipated.
Wonder what that quad-6700 will retail in at?
