| Finally got system up and running fully functional, due to much help from here. Only issue im having is while looking at CPU-Z it shows the chip running at 1.6. Now i know that this may be because the chip is idle, but is there a setting in BIOS that can disable this "idle" setting? I have updated my power scheme settings in windows already but no change. Any help would be greatly appreciated. ![]() "Show them no mercy for they shall show you none" Core 2 Duo E6600 2.4Ghz Ati x1900GT Gigabyte GA-965P-DQ6 3 gigs Crucial Ballistix PC 6400 ddr2 2 HDD 400 total gigs Klipsch 7.1 Pro Media speakers 22" HP w2207h |

| Colonel Calamity | a few things to check the BIOS ... set the memory multiplier to 2.5 (memory at 667 and cpu fsb to 266/533/1066) Make sure the cpu multiplier is set to 9X as long as that is correct then it is likely just throttling down to conserve power... best way to test it is to use TAT to set both cores to 100% and then check the multiplier and stuff in CPU-z ![]() Thanks HL and Corsair! | I'm Diggin it! | IntelspeedStep will lower the multiplier to conserve energy. CPU-z will show the multiplier set to 6, which will show a 1.6Ghz effective speed. You can either load a program that's using both cores or go into your Bios and see if there's a setting to disable SpeedStep. To fully disable SpeedStep requires a Windows Registry hack. | We take both criticism and positive comments very positively | No, there are BIOS settings that allow you to disable EIST, SpeedStep, NoBit, etc....you don't have to mess with the registry INTEL E8400 // Gigabyte EP45 Extreme // 4GB DDR3-1600 // Palit HD 4870 // Antec 1200 // Seagate 750GB HDD // Zalman CNPS9700 // BFG ES 800W PSU |

| just takes some looking around. there are many different BIOSs, and you should be able to find it with not a whole lot of trouble with a that GigaByte one, their BIOSs are usually pretty friendly. |

| well i got the same reaction when i used the latest CPUZ... but when you load even a simple program it will change back to it original multiplier... its not much of a bother, but if you really want to get rid of it follow the post before me... look up your bios and disable the EIST...
