The 8MB cache is sweet. I dunno if I will be buying a Core 2 Quadro though. No games\internet browsers ect are optimized for 4 cores. For an overclocker(like myself), 4 cores is wayyy too much heat. My Core 2 Duo@ 3.2GHz is good enough right now....

Not alot of games are "really" optimized for 2 cores even now, so I just seems to be too much for our time. And as you pointed out, lots of heat for almost "nothing".

I might build a second rig soon with a Core 2 Duo, it all comes down to having the guts to spend so much. :P

polobunny, to be perfectly honest....hold off. As good as Core 2 Duo is, and its great...its a major step up for INTEL.....meaning that the playing field is much more level. As you already ahve a dual core processor, I'd wait to buy anything...to be honest AM2 is not much better than s939, and unless you are a benchmark whore, you really aren't going to notice a huge difference between any dual core solution right now.
I think the technology has outdone itself, and software programmers need to step it up and start optimizing their programs for whats out there now...let alone whats coming up in the coming months.

if you disable the other two cores, then you can have 8mb of cache shared between two cores. =)

Seriously though these kentsfield, are just a 2 conroe on the same platter.. When Windows Vista comes out, that will be the earliest I buy a Quad core... Until then, 2 cores is plenty for me.

hahaha, not one bit.

GRanted you can't see the difference Core 2 offers in like Windows and Microsoft Word, games is where it really shines... Also compressing files in Winrar is insanely fast...
