Default Core 2 Quad Temps

What is an ideal range?

I'm using Core Temp, and idling its around 30c-35c, 10% usage is around 35c-40c, and at 100% its around 45c-55c. Speedfan gives me slightly different temps, but it doesn't seem accurate.

Those temps are fine. Less then 50c under load is pretty good.

What cooling solution are you using? Is the CPU overclocked? I recall your recent thread, but I'm too tired to look it up.

I have a Q6600 with a ThermalTake Big Typhoon cooler. It's currently clocked at 3150Mhz with 1.38V. It idles at 33*C with a 24*C room temp. Loaded it's running at 43*C. I've run this Q6600 up to 1.52V, but the CPU just wouldn't get over 3.3Ghz. This cooler does an impressive job of keeping this thing chilly.

I'm running a Zalman CNPS9700:

I still havent cleaned up that mess of cables, and the AS hasn't had too much time to set.

Cleaning the clutter of cables may lower those temps. Regarding the Core 2 Quad and Duo this is a pretty good read:

Core 2 Quad and Duo Temperature Guide

What are you using to measure other than speedfan? A disparity between temperature monitoring software is normal.

My thoughts run with those of quakindude in that your temps are a little warm. I know you just built this beast so I would let things settle and let the AS compound do its thing.

Ron

As I said its a program called "core temp". There are holes of another fan by the Hard drives. I may add one in there even though its specificly for HDD cooling.

Thanks.

Here is a screen shot of speed fan and coretemp, both taken at around a 10% load.

I reported the temps of core temp in my first post.

Another thing is that I didn't hook up the fan controller to the zalman, so the fan isn't running at its max.

Temps are a little warm for stock but in the overall perspective, under 40c is good. My temps are just a little lower than yours at 3ghz (34/36c).

I Like Watercooling. D-Tek Fuzion, MCP655, MCR220

I'm using stock cooling/voltage/stock everything with only the FSB turned up to 300 to get a total clock speed of 2700MHz. My temps right now in the bottom corner (CoreTemp taskbar icon) are 48/45/43/46 and they vary. the most it will go to on IDLE is 50-51 on the first core, and the rest are ALWAYS below 50 - most of the time below 45. I find it odd though...

No worries Gamer, your temps are right on par, and well below what my QX6800 runs in this cramped P182 chassis.
