Default AMD 3800+ X2 Dual Core Processor

Our review of the AMD 3800+ X2 dual core processor is up, make sure you check it out

Quote:
I honestly feel the AMD 3800+ X2 is the best processor on the market when you take into consideration the price versus the performance. While you can go out and buy a 4800+ X2 for $650, the 3800+ X2 is easily overclocked to 4800+ levels for more than $300 less, meaning even those on a budget can enjoy outstanding performance. That's not to say the 4800+ X2 is not a great processor, it very much is, but if you can save $300 and have almost the same performance, why wouldn't you save that money and put it toward an upgraded video card, memory, or motherboard?

Nice. I was going to get one of those but went with the Opty170 instead because they generally OC better.

I've thought about getting an Opteron...I've resisted to this point because its not a desktop CPU.....however it seems that Newegg and others are having no issues marketing it as one...so maybe we'll have to revisit that stance.

They just jacked the prices up so now it's not so attractive.

In the reveiw you stated using the XFX 7800 GT Video Card with 83.10 video card drivers. In the pictures refereneced there is an ATi card strapped in. Not being picky just wondering which it really was.

Nice, let us know what stepping you get. The CCBWE 0550UPMW are doing 2.9 or so.

Very very nice review on the X2 3800+
I have the 3800 and at the moment I have it over clocked at 2.5Ghz (with the help of One4u2c)
In fact excluding the mother board ( I have the Asus A8N Sli Premium) we have almost the exact same system.
And you can get it for under $300 now.

yeah, the 3800+ is still the best processor you can get....in my opinion.
I see a lot of people recommending the Opteron 165, and I have one running 300x9 100% stable, but when you take into consideration what it takes to get thos results (high end board, grweat memory, excellent cooling) the 3800+ X2 is a better value in my mind.
