Default 45nm AMD processors to support DDR2 and DDR3!

Fresh off the DailyTech press, it looks like the next generation of AM2/AM3 processors (code named Deneb) will feature support for both DDR2 and DDR3 with the onboard memory controller! This is a major milestone, never before has an AMD integrated memory controller supported more than one memory standard type!

From the looks of it, I think the 45nm processors are the ones to wait for. It will be a relatively quick transition from 65nm to 45nm, plus with the extra features available, it's just too bad they won't be around for at least another year or so. I am worried about the 65nm Quad core parts, but I think AMD will have revised the manufacturing process a good amount by the time the Deneb processors are ready for launch, which will make them very attractive.

Hmm, I'm thinkin' that there are gonna be a lot of delays. it seems to me that AMD/ATI are famous for delays (R600) so I'm not really that excited.

Thanks for the heads up, though, Blake.

OH, there's absolutely nothing wrong with quad cores, and I wasn't trying to say there was. Since most of these new Phenom processors are native quad core parts, that's just what I referred to them as. I was trying to say the second round of AMD's Phenom's (45nm) may likely be worth waiting for over the first generation Phenom (65nm).
