yes BSD is a great distro...I prefer to use it more as a server base than an everyday OS. Just doesn't have the extras available that there is to many of the other mainstream distros.

Odd. The two main types of Linux distros are RPM and Debian based. On every distro I've used, programs have always been compatible with each other provided the distros were based on the same thing. Even then, there are converters to convert .RPM packages to .DEB and vice versa.
