| Super Moderator | I misread the the post. Its says "would", not "should" - I said richardson. Sure, laugh - I know he won't win. He's a sucky public speaker. But I know his history. He's a poor version of Powell Otherwise, pick in current order. Powell - if he would run Obama - we'll see McCain - if Obama disappoints - seems likely Rodham - well.....I would have to be damn pretty annoyed with McCain and Obama, but it could happen - she's my angry "you guys don't get it vote." Rudi? No Way. I pretty much lost faith in the 'publican party starting about 5 years ago. Powell I would vote for though - if He'd run. Flame me if you want, but I've been ill for over a week so don't shout!! BTW - I don't typically post in Poli threads |

| I'm hoping John McCain takes the nomination, he's the only one who doesn't make an ass of himself during debates. He's very well composed, has an excellent service record, and falls just far enough to the right of moderate for me. As a man who has faced wartime imprisonment and torture, I fell he has a unique perspective on the treatment of Guantanimo detainees. While he isn't going to go easy on interrogation, he will draw the line at abuse. Rudy has no practical experience in national politics, I'm sorry, being the mayor of one city doesn't mean you can be president any better than any candidate because you "saw the effects of terror" firsthand. The Firefighter's Union is not particularly fond of him as wellTheHill.com - Firefighters’ unsent letter blasts Rudy and if his answer to the firemen of 9/11 was to arrest 15 of them for refusing to stop searching for their fallen brethren then I'd hate to see his effect on the military during such an integral time for them. It was an obvious attempt to expedite the recovery of verabonds, gold etc, rather than allow some of the most affected survivors recover those that truly sacrificed themselves to give some closure to family and comrades. For Giuliani to elevate himself to hero status is an affront to what a real hero is. His image is forever marred for me, and his foreign policy borders more on pride and arrogance than diplomacy. Mitt Romney is another candidate that will flip issues depending on how well he's doing in the polls. He has changed issues in the past concerning abortion and gay rights. I can't remember exactly what he said, but I read recently after his stance on abortion changed to pro life, he opted to support human cloning of embryos so that stem cell research could continue. When he changes his mind on one issue, he will often change other views in order to still bring about a desired effect on a similar issue. I'm just not crazy about him. Hillary Clinton is going to be more of the same. She's going to react to foreign aggression through courts rather than battlefields. Diplomacy is good, but her husbands run left us in a lame position to fight political terrorists. When you simply sent the perpetrators to court for bombing the WTC and not confront the organizations and countries that allowed them to operate you show your weakness. She's a lawyer, and the court is what she knows. She's lost when it comes to the military and she'll either be too aggressive or not aggressive enough. It scares me that she's out to prove herself. Her policy with foreign trade is also slanted towards the American dollar, not the American worker. For a big hardliner on womens rights, she has no problem supporting more trade with China, a major human civil liberties oppressor. Hillary also makes alot of foot in mouth comments, such as her Gandhi joke, and her "plantation" comments on Congress. When she spoke in my home state a few months ago, it was outright embarassing to hear her attempt a southern accent. I doubt she'd try to speak in ebonics, but I wouldn't put it past her. Concerning her ridiculous and offensive "southern draw" she said "I think America is ready for a multilingual president." Bitch, speaking in accents isn't multilingual. Speaking in Spanish is. (Not that I'm a Bush fan either, I'm sure his grasp on Spanish is as good as his English lol) I have no major qualm with Barrack Obama, the resolutions on border control and immigration reform were common sense legislation, and he has a clean record. His father is a Kenyan immigrant, which may give him a little added insight into African politics and policy, relevant since we recently imposed sanctions on Sudan for the Darfur genocide. I don't know how he'll handle military affairs. Obama strikes me as an idealist, and I'm certain he will become very frustrated with the presidency and it's bullshit. When it comes down to it, my vote can go either to McCain or Obama pending they get the nomination. Last edited by DeanOlicious; May 30th, 2007 at 21:15. |

| Functional Alcoholic | Exit Poll Results - PresidentPolls2008.com Some interesting polls at that link. Polls really don't mean shit at this point, but they are still interesting. Pretty much all of them have Clinton, and Obama as the top 2 democrats, and McCain, Giuliani for the top 2 Republicans. Nothing new there. If you go off those polls, it makes it a pretty close presidential race between Giuliani and Clinton. I know polls don't mean much, but all we have to go on at this point. Whats the lesser of two evils on that one? I tend to agree with Dean, that being a Great Mayor (thats also debatable) of the Largest City in the U.S. doesn't exactly qualify you to be President of the United States. On the other hand I don't agree with anything Hilary has to say. Last edited by Hitman; May 31st, 2007 at 02:36. |

| I'd take McCain over Giuliani and Clinton over Obama at this point but as far as I can see we have 4 losers to chose from right now. |

| I'm not voting for any of them. I only vote for conservatives. I don't vote for liberals which is what he have to choose from. They all lie anyways just to get your vote then do what THEY want afterwards and to hell with the rest of us. If that idiot that is in the white house now passes that stupid amnesty bill, this country is screwed! A country will not and cannot remain a country without borders. If we don't have, protect or police our borders then all we will be is a land mass for Osama to invade. Bush needs to get off the crack and wake up! | I'm Evil | A couple observations. Guliani has no experience, and is living off 9/11 fame (sorry to be callous). Granted, none of these politicians know much, they are all just power/fame whores....they don't know foreign policy, diplomacy, budgeting, etc....they all surround themselves with a bunch of corrupt advisors who don't have the balls to run for office themselves (or who have criminal records, etc). I honestly don't see anyone at this point worth voting for, someone is really going to have to stand out to earn my vote this next election. I typically vote conservative, but am on the fence about a lot of the key issues that will decide who is President....Sadly, you can't vote for the best person, you have to vote mainly for the party who is supporting your issues and ideals INTEL QX9650 ASUS P5E3 Premium 4GB DDR3-1600 Sapphire HD 3870X2 Danger Den Tower-26 (Custom W/C) 5 x Seagate 250GB HDD in RAID5 BFG ES 800W PSU |

| That is because the BEST person for the Presidency will never run for the Presidency! But lets not forget Congress. They are just as corrupt as the rest of the politicians.
