To clarify, anyone seeking a regular position on HL staff need not already be established. What they do need is a desire to help others (which you obviously have), and they need to demonstrate a solid writing ability. The User Reviews/Guides forum isn't the only way to do this (send in writing samples, link to other published work, etc), but it's certainly a great avenue for those interested in this sort of thing. And hey, while writing guides or other review material isn't always glamorous or materialistically rewarding, who knows, it could end up as a stepping stone to something else.
Really? I didn't know you started here before getting the freelance job. Haha, well, the more you know! But I get it. I'll work on them writing skills.

Thing is there is a big difference in using one's "background" to simply write reviews and guides. While that does, indirectly, help members, that's not what's being referred to in this case.

Helping members in the way of individual advice. That's a good thing to do. Like when someone posts a problem, you go and post as much as you can post to help the guy/girl out, and in the meantime (most likely) learn something from someone else that may know either more or something you don't know. It's always a mutual and group learning process for everyone here - EVERYONE - and it will never change.

Either way, it's great to just know you contributed something to helping someone out. I know I love it, and I do it all the time. No, I'm most definitely not conceited - least conceited guy you'll ever know - but I can safely say that I'm a nice guy. I get told that a lot, and people seem to give me recognition for it, and for that I can only be flattered and thankful. But I believe it's a natural part of me to be that way. Giving, kind, generous - I just think being the way I really am, and doing what I believe is right is the only thing I can do, no matter what others do. In the long run, it will only benefit one's future. I love being the way I am, and love it and feel a lot of satisfaction when I help someone out and really know that I've just helped them solve a problem they otherwise may not have been able to solve.

That's why I'm still here. Tyreal directed me here, and I was never really a forum buff, but this forum was so different than any other I'd ever been on. There are other people like me here, and I love that, because you guys are the most deserving people to give my kindness and stuff to. I'm only grateful to be around such folks, and look forward too many good times to come.
