one thing to remember...... there has never been an official language of the US. It is left up to the states. Thats how the forefathers set it up..... so if texas becomes overrun by legal mexicans that are influenced by illegals, they could get in office and change it to spanish if they get enough support and votes.

Which is how it should be. Any rights not explicitly assigned to the feds should be held at the state level. If TX wants to go that way, more power to 'em. of course the feds will retaliate with all sorts of funding cuts, etc. I think CA is more likely to go Hispanic than TX, though.

HA! You guys ever been to TX. The rednecks in this state would never let that happen. I have nothing against my brown brothers but if they tried to make spanish our official language, you would see some dead mexicans. I know that you guys are just using this as an example but I think California would be more likely to become a spanish speaking state than Texas. With the liberals in that state they would make spanish the state language if Michael Moore made a documentary (I use this term loosely) on why spanish should be our primary language.

In Chicago Ill the numbers of Illegals has a vastly different demographic than Texas.

I dont know if maybe im the only one, but I was denied a Visa until the age of 5. My parents were both Green Card Visa in the US but i was born early in taiwan at the time. So i was raised basically away from my parents for the 1st 5 yrs. I have no sympathy for any of these illegals, if i had to deal with it, they should too. No amnesty or "worker" visas.

I don't understand why anyone is surprised at all. Just more Democrat appeasement. (this is ancient news to me but I realize most of you guys don't keep up with politics) This is just one of many votes that would really piss everyone off if they kept up at all with what goes on in Washington. Everyone is so blinded by the propaganda put out by the liberal media that this stuff gets overlooked by most people.

All of them are Democrats but Jeffords, who probably wouldn't be reelected as a Dem, so he calls himself independent, but votes with the dems on every single vote. He left the Republican party mid-term in 2001. He usually voted with the Dems as a Republican.

No, there has never been an official language in the US, but this is the only time in our history where it has become a real problem. Many tax dollars go for multi-lingual signs, documents, forms, school programs, etc.

Has to be something attached to it. Typical propaganda and it happens on both sides. I'm sure if you look you'll find things voted down by the republicans that had attachments the democrats were trying to push through or just putting on the bill so it wouldn't pass and could be used as political ammo. Too bad both sides are so corrupt.
