Hey guys, thanks for the thread. In this day and age where Veterans are more ignored than honored, it's nice to see that people still remember to give thanks. As a former Air Force member, and a Veteran, I appreciate this very much. Thanks again!

Serving your country is a very honorable thing to do but it's not for everyone. My brother joined the Navy and had a very hard time with military life. I have a few cousins that have been in the Army and Marines and they loved it so make sure it's what you want to do. Everyone that I've talked to about it have said they would do it again and some have regretted leaving the military. Talk to people that have been there.

I wouldn't trade my last 17.8 years in the Army for anything.

Nothing.

The friendships, brotherhoods and the company of Brothers that watch over me that have already paid their price have kept me in this long. The least I can, and want to, do is my full 20. God I'll miss it when I'm done, but I won't miss some of it.

If you've ever wondered what you are truly made of, try one of the services out. If you're still wondering what you're made of, what kind of person you are, you'll find out in short order.

Very funny joke.

Thanks to all of those who served and will serve. Much appreciated.

Rather amusing, in a sad sort of way. Canada once fielded one of the largest armed forces in the world, filled with dedicated men and women. Now, for the most part, various governments have whittled our once proud military down to almost nothing. We can barely meet our own peacekeeper commitments.

Thanks to all the guys and gals that do the job, no matter how much the idiotic press and civvy whiners dump on you. Keep in mind that there is at least one civilian who is proud of you, no matter which country you belong to.

IIRC, your still young, you have time to make this decision. Not everyone is ready for college either.

When you get to be my age, you look back and wonder why you even took the path you did. Back then I wasn't thinking about a long term job with nice bennies to retire with. Everyone knows I went with the family business; and I wouldn't trade that for anything, but now I really have nothing but memories to show for it.

My son would like to sign up, but I know my son; he's from the video game era. The military isn't a video game, people get hurt (like that video last week). I discouraged him to join until he grows up a little.

You know, sometimes I'm seriously thinking about army. It's not really serving my country that attracts me, it's because I don't want to live one of those boring life. Sitting down in a chair, typing all day long. Waking up the next morning to find the same thing to do. =/

What does the Canadian Army do? I remember them being in Bosnia when I was there. They sat on the camp and never left.
