| I'm Evil | Its almost like a jealousy.....no matter what we do, we're the big bad Americans........we give and give and give, but no one wants to talk about that.......but the moment someone's ass is in a sling, they are begging us to help. Nobody is forcing anyone to spend any money as far as I know. Besides, I don't agree in many decisions the USA has took to implicate itself in certain conflicts, neither do I agree people called the USA like little bitches. May it be Canada, France, whatever country, sometimes those people have to deal with their own problems and stop crying when they get theirselves in shit. Also, if USA pays 1/4 of the UN, they also have the majority of power over it. Where's the problem? I agree with you on Russia, but it's not that kind of elitist attitude I was talking about. More like "I'm the shit, I can save your conflicts, here comes USA" sort of elitism. I can understand though that this came from all the time some countries came crying for help. Truth be told, I've hardly ever saw a politician do what the people wanted. I'm overly deceived by the way things are in many countries, USA included. I'm pretty sure it didn't have to be this way, and it becomes pretty obvious some terrible decisions have been made by somewhat prosperous people... Money rules this world, sadly. Hey don't ask me, I still have no idea either why this thing is called Canadian Bacon. It's just ham, in a ball. :S | |

| I'm Evil | Fine......If I were President, the rest of you countries could go to hell and eat Canadian Bacon....... If you knew what you were talking about, you'd know that the US pays 1/4 of the UN budget, but to say we control the UN shows no understanding of how the UN works, or its past. As to conflicts....do your research young man, you'll find that France, Spain, Great Britian, Germany, and a few others have had a much bigger, and longer lasting effect on the world and its conflicts. We got bashed for our isolationist views prior to being dragged into WWII, and even today we spend an insane amount of money, and lives, cleaning up what other countries can't and won't..... As to the speech, I think you read too much into it, it was more of a "Fine, you all rely on each other, we'll worry about ourselves"......which I am all in favor of.....we have too many people here without jobs, medical care, or homes.....yet we are constantly pumping money into places like Ethiopia, Darfur, and other shitholes that in all honesty should be left to their own vices......its not called being an elitist....in nature its called natural selection. | Polo, i'll be honest with you, the US pays for over 1/4 of the UN budget, but has no power watsoever really with the UN. Its a myth because I assure you if the US had significant power in the UN, Hugo Chavez and that moron Ahmadinejad would NOT be allowed to EVER make any speeches in the UN buildings here in NY. The US doesn't make more $$ than the rest of the world, China's making much more $$ than the US. The decline of the US Dollar proves its not making the most $$ in the world anymore. The problem is again if the US doesn't step in and say they support Israel an ALLY of the US, people'll be like "look at how the US supports its allies". The US steps in and defends israel's actions, and people go "look at what a mess the US is doing, sticking their nose where it doesn't belong." Also why does the US have to be the 1st to cut emissions of greenhouse gas? Everyone's like "omg the US didnt' ratify the kyoto protocol", when china has an exemption from it? Talk about a double standard. I joke around with you polo bout you being from canadia, and i'm sorry bout just lumping you into that generalization, but you have to understand in the last yr when i've been around asia, all the shit-talkin bout the US, and from my buddies in Europe just makes you think what would happen if the US just decided to turn itself into a closed country? Only lookin out for itself 1st, not bothering with patrolling the rest of the world. Yes we may seem imperialistic, but if the US decided to withdraw all its troops and bases around the world, to only defend us ourselves, how many days would it take for the world to jump into WW3? |

I wouldn't be the one to be bashing someone from having an isolationist ideology, anyway. Can't blame someone from wanting to do what's best for them, like I said. Maybe I read too much into this speech, that's true, and I'll also agree with the last part. Azianai, US contributed for UN in the order of 23% if I remember correctly, that's not over 1/4th. As for starting a WW3, bah, humans are idiots. No seriously, live and let live? Where the heck has this be? :/ | |

| I really did not put this thread up to offend anyone ... but to encourage and give hope and make Americans "feel good" about America. OPINION: America is the greatest country on earth. We are a giving country and a country full of people who give and desire to benefit the less fortunate. America has also sent out more Christian ministry worldwide than any country on earth.
