Do all digital cameras have a lag from when you click the button till the time the pic takes? Mine seems like it's a second or so which makes it hard to get what you truely want.

What camera are you using? My Canon can take about 8-10 shots in 5 seconds before it slows down when the buffer fills up. (I timed it with a stopwatch)

Your lag might be the camera focusing before it takes the picture, are you in full auto mode?

Sony mvc-cd350. It takes a mini cd instead of a memory card. 3.1 mp and takes nice pics. I think there might be a way to change it but this thing has so many settings it's a pain.

Could it be the cd spinning-up before you take the picture?

Most older digital cams have lag problems.

I have a newer 3.1MP Fujifilm 3100 (cheaper) digicam and there is the lag as you press the button so for action shots you have to anticipate. Here a few from me but due to it having to be downsized for the forums, the full detail is not there. My camera takes them at 2048x1536 at highest resolution.

I have a thousand or two pics from this camera... heres some different ones I took:

Playing with exposure levels, about 50 feet behind this truck there are houses, this is in my parents neighborhood so the exposure turned out pretty good (whatever it was set to):

Me and my daughter:

Thanks HL and Corsair!

I finally figured it out. All I have to do is depress the button about half way first and then when I'm ready to take the pic it does it instantly. Takes a couple seconds after depressing the button and you hear a small beep to let you know it's ready.

Polobunny - I recommend any of the Canon cameras, the current A series, A530, A540, A630, A640 are good choices.
Check this site out => Link
It has reviews for most popular cameras with very detailed info and sample pictures.
Interesting, but at $249 canadian for the A530, it's not exactly my kind of cheap. :S I saw those were alot cheaper in US though, what a ripoff.
To tell you the truth, i'd be searching for around $150 canadian, because with taxes it would be around $170 and this would fit a bit better with my budget. I have a 512MB SD card, so something that could use it would be great.
I tried surfing your links, it's all fine and dandy but I have honestly no knowledge about cameras so I have no idea what to look for exactly. So I dunno if you have the time, maybe you or someone else could throw me a few models and i'd check that out?

Thanks

There is this camera, I think it's the cheapest in the Powershot lineup.

I cannot recommended a specific camera because I don't know what you will be using it for; general point&shoot, nature, macro, eBay product photos, etc.

Some thinks to keep in mind:
-More Megapixels doesn't mean better pictures, 3MP-4MP is just fine
-Zoom lens, optical (not digital zoom), most have 3x, 4x is better
-35mm film camera lens FOV equivalents (focal length), a typical 4x zoom lens might have 35mm-140mm, don't take a camera that has an unusually high first number like 45mm, you will not be able to take wide-angle landscape shots
- I like cameras with manual controls also, Tv,Av,M, Aperture priority, Shutter priority, etc
- The max. aperture of the lens - ex f:2.8 - 5.6, lower numbers are better, this means the lens lets more light in. This should be indicated right on the lens on the better cameras, or somewhere with the specs sheet.
-Max Shutter speed length, also a personal preference when taking night shots, mine camera has a 15sec max shutter setting, other cameras have 1-2 seconds.

EDIT:
I was going to recommend this and another Olympus camera but the cameras don't take SD cards.

EDIT edit:
Posted two more photos on the first page

Ok thanks, i'll look into this. I'll probably bust my budget a bit and get a A530, I saw one going for $229 ($260 with taxes)
5MP, 4x optical 4x digital, f/2.6-5.5 aperture, 34-140mm equivalent, 15-1/2000 seconds shutter speed.
