Default Re: PAYPAL!

I suspect the number is actually much lower than 1%... considering there are millions of users and so few reports of problems... but those that do have problems seem to be very vocal about it. This is like someone had a problem with a 1985 Nissan truck 20 years ago and vowed to never buy another Nissan... it is just a personal opinion and option to not use that item or service even though it works for millions of others.
Its part of the internet base where the information is there and accessible but too many people think that just because they're affected or have a problem with it that everyone will.
I have had paypal for a few years and never had a problem... but as they get more liberal with their policies that holds the originator responsible rather than the scammer, this is why I chose to remove my account.

Thanks HL and Corsair!

Eeesh, sorry to hear all the horror stories. I've used Paypal for many things ranging from e-bay and online resellers (like Newegg) for purhcases as well as purchases and sales with computer forum members without any issues (so far). But all this does make me nervous, I think I'll be doing some Paypal maintenance tonight....

I dont think I have ever once said DO NOT USE PAYPAL. I was just sharing with you ppl what has happened to me recently and warn you about what could happen with paypal. Be careful.
Capper- I dont think I have any malware b/c I use my newegg cc alot for purchases, and I use my debit card alot for transactions on amazon. I got this particular CC that was compromised just for emergencies and Quakins' problem seemed to me like an emergency. This was the only true cc I own. BTW Bank of America is #1 when it comes to stuff like this. Props to them.

I understand that, I am making this based on other information. I will likely keep the paypal open with no money in it and transfer as needed.

I hardly ever use paypal, just for small donations and such, and will NEVER put a Debit/Credit card on file for them for safety reasons. All my transfers are directly from the bank, so that I can monitor everything easily. Never had a problem except I did raise one dispute that went in my favor simply b/c the seller decided to take my money and run - He never returned to fight the dispute :P Sry to here the problems you had Quakin, but you were more than right to tell them to screw off, they aren't a credit company or a bank, you are not financially obligated to pay them anything unless they can prove you owe it, and instead they really owe you, and you have proof.

I'm with capper, boxer, I'd look into cleaning your system, possibly formatting, it sounds like you have a keylogger or other malware.
