Chavez - Don't make me laugh. He's a little tinpot dictator struggling to remain relevant. With inflation running at 22.5%, his only hope is to keep seizing private industry (so-called "nationalizing") and to demonize America/Bush as the great enemy of his people. He's said we're at war with his pipsqueak little country (who? Venezuala? where are they again?) and that the US government is plotting to kill him. Hah, as if we'd waste the time on a pimple like him.

Actually, it seems like he's shooting himself in the foot. The US is not only Venezuela’s biggest market but is also home to refineries that specialise in the heavy sour crude oil Venezuela exports.

A Look At U.S. Oil Import - Seeking Alpha

After he "nationalized" most of Exxon's oil projects Exxon tied up some $12BN of the state oil company's assets in court, seeking compensation for his "taking". Good for them! I'd tell him to go **** himself.

I love digging this back up.... I do so because one of my customers I just spoke with was Stanley Goldenberg of NOAA and we briefly touched on the subject of how a majority of real scientists and climatologists have no connection with politics or the IPCC, and so many have left the IPCC because of the false information they have spread and gotten people to fall for. He said that there has been ZERO conclusive evidence that could even suggest man has had anything to do with any climate change at anytime during the present or the past. He said its because there is such a lack of reliable hard data that is more than 30 years old, there is just no way to come to a factual conclusion, although much of what the IPCC and like minded groups are doing is spreading "possibilities masked as evidence".
He was a very smart and easy to talk with guy and he is willing to spread out some information to anyone to look at themselves and do their own research.
A few sites he pointed me to was:
Science and Public Policy Institute - Home
The Heartland Institute - Discovering, developing, and promoting free-market solutions to public policy problems.

Thanks HL and Corsair!

Just to make mention...I heard the other day that there is presently like 30% more snow covering the Northern Hemisphere at this moment than there has been at any one time in over 3 decades.

Which - if you bothered to read the actual science - is predicted under global warming scenarios.

The problem is that folks think the "global warming" is simply about things getting hotter. It is not - nor was it ever. The symptoms of GW are extreme sustained patterns with a GLOBAL warming trend. Not local trends, but just extreme. If you don't understand that - then you don't understand GW. Vote how you like - who cares. Vote that the tide does not rise. Fine.

What I want to know is when you all figure out that voting doesn't change reality. You'all can vote that getting punched doesn't hurt. Awesome. You can vote that being poor is cool. Awesome.

We can all vote that Screwball's computer is the best on the planet - or we can vote mine is.

But, your political affiliation, the cherry picked facts, and your opinion, does not make my computer faster. I wish it did.

Which of you trusts a politician to tell you the truth? So why do I only really see politically bent opinions in this thread - and politically bent sources? For gosh sakes - believe what you want and who you want - vote how you want.

But know this - your vote will not change reality. Global temps are and have been rising - there is no debate on that.

I don't get you people......you take a simple issue and make it into one that seems so relevant - so detrimental - so ominous.

AT this point, I think folk feel like they can vote the sunrise out of office. Whatever!

Uhhh....where did you get any of that from my post? I was just making a statement. I am well aware of what is predicted. Take a Prozac or something.

I'm out of Prozac! (actually, I think I should not take that stuff - it will only encourage me).

I thought you were saying that the record east coast snows are an indication that GW is not happening.

My bad. This thread is so long and old I get lost.

EDIT - opps....yeah - I read something wrong. Still...I believe what I said - I just should have read closer.
