may want to go one or 2 more points down on the font size but that looks much cleaner... another idea would be to integrate the "wood" font and lighter color just to the right of the regular HL....

I tried that many times all being failures. Putting the HL logo there with just "Wood" beside it doesn't work - trust me lol.

The avatar maybe looks a bit crowded. I'll do some more minor touch-ups later on, gotta run to school for an exam.

Yes, wood background is the whole wood thing. And there isn't any specific reason for it except for it's just a design I came up with and I liked it.

And screwball - LMFAO! Nothing more needs to be said, good one.

Hmmm, interesting. Hardly looks like a wood grain to me, but hey, as long as you like it!

The problem is that there really isn't a way to mimic the look of true wood grain in Photoshop. Not unless you upload a picture of a piece of natural wood and use that as the background. In terms of calling it Wood, that came from a project I'm working on with my cousin (who's a cabinetmaker) using a similar background for his website. To be honest with you, the idea was originally to make it look like it was "Machined Wood" - synthetic on purpose. Even when I try to make real-looking wood grain, it never turns out. I think the sig's background is pretty damn good though.
