| Quakindude, I would seriously consider building a house out of brick or stone, with a concrete foundation. tornados like this will be coming more and more often due to global warming and you need something solid (like houses built in europe) to withstand them. I did some research a few years ago and it costs about the same (the material costs more but there is less work required to build) and when a tornado comes, only the windows and maybe the roof would need repairs... even stairs should be made of concrete inside the house and inner walls made of brick or stone as well. | We take both criticism and positive comments very positively | Insurance is the biggest scam in the world.....make sure you fight these people tooth and nail. They make more money than you could ever dream, and never complain....but when it comes time to take care of the people they represent, they are going to do everything they can to screw you. Two years ago this week i was robbed at my home while trying to sell a laptop computer I had listed in the paper. I called my insurance company and asked if it was worth filing a claim, and they told me definitely....so we did. They gave me $1000 for a $2000 computer, then proceeded to raise my insurance $3000 a year....needless to say we switched insurance companies. | Can't imagine the hassle you must be going through. My family are being evicted from our house shortly and that is bad enough, but to physically lose one's home (and possessions) must be awful. Not much this lil old pup can do from over here in England. Best I can offer is to substitute for your team folding losses. Nothing much hey but the goodwill is there Best wishes to you and yours and I hope everything gets sorted quickly for you. You should fold!!! | I'm Diggin it! | I'm doing a lot of crying these last few days. The frustrations, the losses and the heartbreak my kids are going through has brought this man to his knees. Then, I look a this this morning and see what you guys are doing. For the first time since I found all my family members alive, I have tears of wonderment and joy. Thank you so much guys. The $1500 we had in savings, all we had built up after buying our "dream home", is almost gone just in pet fees, storage fees, clothes, food, and other basics. So to see the simply awesome job you guys have done so far is humbling to say the least. I usually have eloquent words for tough situations like this, but I'm truly at a loss for any thing more than THANK YOU! at this point. I'd like to tell you what you're getting for your money. Hope. You guys have given us that and in a time like this, hope is priceless. Thank you all. If all you can afford is "Good luck Tom and family", that is just as worthy of my thanks as anything else you could give us. You folks have set an example for my kids, who have been keeping up with this on these forums through me saying COME READ THIS!, that they will carry with them for the rest of their lives. God Bless. | 5 Minute Mod Man | I know you may not have much time to explain some things for some time Quake but I am curious about a couple things. Was your neighbors 13 year old son found? Did you pick your son up from school that day, is that why he was home with you? Where was the rest of your family when the tornado hit? OBVIOUSLY these are not important questions that need to be answered but I am curious. On an additional note, I was hoping to find some time with Paul (one4yu2c) during a weekend in a few weeks to come down and lend a helping hand with anything that you might need help with down there. If we can arrange a trip and if you guys are still in need of extra hands (which I am sure you will be) then we are going to try our best to head down for a couple days. I just have to figure out my work schedule and I would also, most likely, have to bring my two sons (ages 5 and 8). This is just to let you know, I do not want you to worry about making any arrangements for us, we will worry about that. You just keep hanging tough and taking care of that family of yours!
