| I'm Diggin it! | The insurance adjuster finally showed up today. He spent about 5 hours on the house, measuring, picture taking, making notes and so on. I've taken over 400Mb worth of pictures myself. Already, there's insurance companies like Alfa trying to cut people checks for the damages. One guy whose house is worth at least $130k was offered a $90k check by Alfa. He told them to stuff it. My next door neighbor was offered a $127k check for his house and his is totally destroyed. It will require at least $15k to bulldoze it and clean up the lot to include leveling it as the tornado has rearranged the earth around our houses. Much less the amount it will take to rebuild. I told him not to accept it, I don't know if he did or not. Our house is "questionable" as stated by the adjuster. There's 7 trusses that are splintered or gone. Another 3 that are simply snapped in half. The roof would have to come off completely, all the sheet rock pulled out etc...basically stripped all the way down to the 2x4's just to make sure the framing isn't damaged. But the kitchen is 3-4" off from where it was, the front right corner of the house is moved forward 3" and the brick near the foundation is bowed out badly. All 4 corners of the house are cracked, the main support beam for the vaulted ceiling in the living room is cracked and there's water damage to every single thing in the house. So what part of that is questionable is beyond me. The day has been extremely long and hard. I'm smoked and hurting. We're going to get something to eat, drop our pets off at my Mom's and then go to bed. I'll have the P.O. Box tomorrow. Thanks again to all of you for being so great. I cannot express my family's gratitude enough. ![]() Q6600@ 3.2GHz w/ CNPS9700 | EVGA 780i | 4Gb Patriot Extreme DDR2-800 5-5-5-12 | EVGA GTX 280 1Gb Video | 1x WD 640Gb HDD, 2x Seagate 400Gb HDD, 1x250Gb WD | 2x Samsung SH-203B Opticals | Antec 900 | ABS/Tagan BZ700 700W PSU | Zalman ZM-MFC1 Fan Controller |

| Modder-ator | ![]() Just the sheer power of tornadoes continues to amaze me. Best of luck in getting things sorted out with the insurance company. Sounds like they are all hoping people will take the easy way out. Hopefully you can get the best compensation possible from your insurance company. Thanks for the update! |
