| Colonel Calamity | the problem here comes in that by downloading the torrent and supporting these sites, you may be only downloading the legal stuff but it opens the door to also accessing illegal content... as an FYI I found a torrent from elsewhere and did get this album downloaded (and very quick, 3 minutes for 64MB torrents). ![]() Thanks HL and Corsair! | Here's a good legitimate use for P2P. Not to mention linux and linux apps. " In the US, several universities have banned filesharing applications such as BitTorrent, mostly under pressure from the RIAA. A university in the Netherlands has taken a different approach. They use uTorrent to distribute software and OS updates across 6500 workstations, and end up saving a lot of time, money and resources by doing so. " |

| That would be a problem with the user, not the site. That's like saying that by going to a gun store you might be opening the door to gun crimes. |

| Colonel Calamity | nah its more like saying: supporting a site with illegal content, allows then to expand to more illegal content, regardless of the amount of legal content they have. The only way to go legal is a setup like how Napster went, they may have had illegal content years ago but now they are all legal. Or the gun analogy.... going into a store to buy legal guns when you know they have illegal weapons, thus giving them more money to buy more illegal guns even though other guns may be legal. Or donating to CAIR when you know damn well that the organization may be a legal one but they are known to support terrorists directly with your donated money. No matter what color glasses you look at it through, it is supporting illegal activities. ![]() Thanks HL and Corsair! My opinions are my own and not representative of this site or its members. |

| Well if you want to get really analytical, no illegal content is hosted on thepiratebay or any other torrent site. The illegal content is hosted on other users computers. Plus, if anything, downloading legal content from these sources isn't supporting the illegal downloads as much as encourage the hosting of further legal downloads as a means of distribution. You're creating imaginary links and scenarios that really don't have any basis in real life. |

| Colonel Calamity | ok so giving money to company ABCD which is known to donate directly to CAIR which is known to directly support terrorism, since you are not donating directly to CAIR or terrorists, you cannot be help responsible for contributing to terrorism? Since you only used a link to them but not direct contact, the link itself is not illegal even though the end result of illegal activity is? Thats just displaced responsibility. As long as what you do is not illegal, who cares where one or two jumps up the line goes to, in this case supporting a site with connections to illegal content. ![]() Thanks HL and Corsair!
